Thanks to my cousin Kinda Sawaf who is circulating this letter and urging every one of us to act and respond to the horror and terror that Israel is inflecting on the Palestinians and the whole region.

Dear Mr. senator    

            I am writing this letter to express my opinion concerning the annual financial aid provided by the United States to the State of Israel.  I believe that it is about time Israel graduates from “the US international welfare program” financed by the US tax payers.

            The current standard of living and per capita GDP in Israel are one of the highest in the world. In addition, the Israeli defense forces are the most powerful in the Middle East and more than capable of defending the security of the State of Israel. Therefore, financial aid is neither needed for economic development nor to maintain the security of Israel. On the other hand, the security and economic situation in the occupied territories are dismal.

            I propose to allocate the current financial aid provided to Israel to socio-economic programs in the occupied territories, with an objective to promote peace via economic development.
